GlobeCast Completes Build Out of Orkin Satellite Training NetworkGlobeCast Deploys IP-based Interactive Distance Learning Network at more than 330 Orkin Training Sites Los Angeles, April 13, 2006 – GlobeCast - a leading global content management and delivery company and subsidiary of France Telecom (NYSE: FTE) – announced today that it has deployed an IP-based satellite training network at Orkin employee instruction sites across the United States. Orkin – a provider of essential pest control services – is a recognized leader in employee training and has selected GlobeCast for the design, installation and maintenance of its new Interactive Distance Learning (IDL) network. The IP-based satellite network is part of an Orkin initiative aimed at further improving its employee education program throughout its more than 400 locations nationwide. Orkin commissioned GlobeCast to design the IP-based network that will deliver live video over IP, and file transfers by satellite to Orkin sites in North America. GlobeCast is providing full integration for the satellite network including equipment procurement and staging, network security and encryption; head-end installation at the Orkin University campus studios in Atlanta; backhaul and terrestrial circuits; remote site installation and service, as well as space and uplink from its teleport in Los Angeles. Content will be broadcast over the Intelsat-8 satellite (89°W) where GlobeCast operates a dedicated Business Television (BTV) KU-band platform that provides video and data services for a range of corporate clients. Orkin is a full-time broadcaster on the platform and one of its primary tenants. GlobeCast now provides ongoing network maintenance and broadcast support as well as all onsite services. GlobeCast, in conjunction with technology partners OneTouch and Helius, deployed a state of the art platform combining industry-leading interactive distance learning and satellite media playout technologies in a single box. As a combined solution, Orkin is able to provide traditional live interactive training to more than 330 Orkin locations as well as deliver the training as files for remote Video-On-Demand (VOD). This fully integrated system also delivers full interactive student response functionality with the VOD virtually creating IDL-On-Demand. This innovative development entitled ClassRoom-On-Demand enables Orkin technicians to receive interactive training at their convenience. On GlobeCast’s satellite platform, Orkin receives the benefits and flexibility of both live video and store and forward training applications. Orkin has been recognized as a leader in human capital development and is ranked in Training magazine’s Top 100 for 2006.
