GlobeCast deploys innovative private fiber network for ArteParis, 11 March 2010 – GlobeCast has deployed a new private fiber network for European cultural channel Arte, allowing the broadcaster to link and transfer programs and information between its various sites in France and Germany. Connecting sites in Paris, Kehl and Baden-Baden, the solution that GlobeCast provided to Arte allows for long-distance delivery of uncompressed HD and SD feeds, with guaranteed image quality end-to-end. This network uses a bandwidth of 2.5 Gigabits per second. The network fulfills three complex requirements for Arte. The channel, broadcasting in both French and German, SD and HD, required full-time links between its sites for the distribution of its programs. GlobeCast put completely secure HD links in place with bandwidth of up to 2.5 Gigabits per second. The international reach of the channel also required the establishment of contribution and production fiber links, which allow the broadcaster to send and share content between its sites as well as with its production partners. Lastly, this network allows Arte to exchange data, namely internal transfers of IT data between its four sites in France. The excellent collaboration between Arte’s technical teams, GlobeCast and France Telecom provided a key element in the successful implementation of this network. Its configuration allows Arte to have secure end-to-end connectivity and guarantees its ability to optimize the broadcast of its French and German programming. |
