London, 13 July 2006 – Leading content management and delivery company GlobeCast has struck deals with parenting channel The Baby Channel and US horse racing channel Racing World to provide access to the Sky platform in the UK and Ireland using GlobeCast’s Eurobird capacity.

GlobeCast’s solution for the two channels includes fibre connectivity from the BT Tower in London to its London Technical Operations Centre at Brookmans Park, where the signals are uplinked to the Sky Digital platform via Eurobird 28.5ºE.

The Baby Channel is the world’s first television channel exclusively for pregnant women, expectant Dads and parents of pre-school children aged 0-5 years old. Broadcast by Simply Media, the channel features programmes on pregnancy, child health, early learning, first aid, safety and cooking for children. The revolutionary channel will be available 24 hours a day on Sky channel 285.

Racing World is a new horseracing channel dedicated to broadcasting the best US racing live from premiere US tracks. It is a joint venture between Racing UK, owned by 30 UK racecourses and two of the biggest US racing groups: Magna Entertainment Corp and Churchill Downs Inc. The channel will be broadcast from 5.30pm-1.00am five nights a week on Sky channel 433 as a bonus channel to all Racing UK and Setanta Sports customers.
The two newcomers to GlobeCast’s platform on Eurobird will join the fifty video channels and eleven radio channels on the platform, including major television broadcasters such as EuroNews, Abu Dhabi TV, Extreme Sports, CCTV 9, Audi TV and others.
