New Satellite Capacity for GlobeCast on Eurobird Offers Broadcasters Access to Sky

Paris, 28 January 2006– GlobeCast, the global content management and delivery company, has acquired new capacity on the Eurobird satellite, for broadcast access to the Sky platform in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The two new muxes located on a 72 Mhz transponder, acquired through a deal with satellite operator ASTRA, will serve a growing number of broadcasters wishing to enter the dynamic UK satellite market and target 8 million Sky viewers.

Broadcast Services director Juliet Bayliss said, “Demand for capacity on Eurobird has been exceptionally high, so we’re thrilled to have reached an agreement with ASTRA which allows us to keep up with the channels’ needs.”

GlobeCast offers a large range of services associated with its Eurobird platforms originating from its London Technical Operations Centre at Brookman’s Park.These services include GlobeCast’s proprietary content management solutions as well as multiplexing, uplink, satellite capacity, Sky EPG access (Electronic Programme Guide) and the possibility of interactive broadcasts.

GlobeCast’s platforms on Eurobird are accessible to radio and television broadcasters on five continents via the company’s proprietary ATM fibre network, which interconnects 15 teleports and Technical Operations Centres worldwide, allowing for reception across Europe and the rest of the world by both Direct-to-Home and cable subscribers.

Newcomers to GlobeCast’s platform on Eurobird will join the fifty video channels and eleven radio channels on the platform, including major television broadcasters such as EuroNews, Abu Dhabi TV, Extreme Sports, CCTV 9, Audi TV and others.
