Radio France Internationale Reaches Africa and the Middle East via Satellite with GlobeCast

French radio giant RFI is now available throughout the Middle East and Northern Africa following its launch on the Arabsat satellite BADR-3

PARIS, 30 October 2006– GlobeCast has launched Radio France Internationale (RFI) on its satellite platform aboard Arabsat BADR-3, allowing for optimum reception of the French radio news channel throughout 22 countries in Northern Africa and the Middle East.

An international news channel based in France, RFI broadcasts throughout the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in 20 languages. RFI counts 44 million listeners and broadcasts 400 hours of programming per week.

GlobeCast is providing RFI with uplink and space capacity on Arabsat’s BADR-3 satellite, located at 26°E. Operated in partnership with Arabsat, this platform provides RFI with access to a market that includes a potential 180 million satellite television viewers.

GlobeCast already manages delivery of Radio France Internationale to Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the Americas. With this new agreement, RFI and GlobeCast are reinforcing their longstanding relationship. In partnership with Arabsat, GlobeCast also delivers one of RFI’s subsidiaries, RMC Moyen-Orient, to the Middle East and to Northern Africa.
